Let’s do a quick word association. I’ll say a phrase, and you keep track of the first thing that pops into your head:
- 5 Guys Burgers and Fries
- Ghetto Grocery Bag
- The Cheese Is Oozing
- Get Yo Self Some Double Cheeseburger
If you answered “Damn!” to any or all of these, you’re already familiar with Daym Drops (AKA Daymon Patterson) or at the very least, familiar with the songified version of his “5 Guys” video that exploded across the internet back in 2012. Patterson, who until that time had been working mainly as a retail sales manager, has embraced his popularity, developing a persona and building an online home for the best in fast food reviews. He has also built himself into a full-on celebrity, parlaying the success of his channel into a fully realized television show on the Travel Channel called “Best Daym Takeout.”
Whether you are actually interested in eating the foods Daym showcases or not, his candor, humor and enthusiasm are infectious. As a reformed Fast Foodie who misses the days when his metabolism would let him get away with eating a McDonald’s-Double-Cheeseburger-on-top-of-a-Whopper-Jr.-on-top-of-a Wendy’s-Jr.-Bacon-Cheeseburger…these videos are borderline pornographic.
