VANCOUVER WEB FEST (VWF) is pleased to announce The Carter Mason Award for Excellence. Carter Mason (California), was a pioneer in the world of new media and was a fierce supporter of independent media, particularly independently produced web/digital series both locally and around the world. Carter developed JTS.tv, an ad-free premium digital channel specifically for webseries and was an incredible mentor and supporter to many, including Vancouver Web Fest. Being part of Vancouver Web Fest from its inception in 2014, Carter touched many lives as an exceptional contributor & influencer participating in panels, workshops and pitch sessions bringing his insight and experience to our creative community. Vancouver Web Fest will honour Carter Mason’s memory with this award by presenting it to the first recipient at the Vancouver Web Fest 2017 Awards Ceremony. Selection Criteria for this award: The committee will award a deserving candidate based not only on their creative and business savvy, but on their contributions to the success of our emerging industry.
VWF is thrilled to announce new key team members: Curtis Michael Davey – Director of Partnerships and Development, Ashleigh Withall – Director of Operations and Megan Johnson – Marketing Communications Specialist. Curtis brings years of experience and passion for digital media to reinforce Vancouver’s place as a hub for original content development. Ashleigh joins VWF, bringing with her community outreach and operations expertise from top organizations. This is combined with her years of experience in the creative arts, non-profit world along with her lifelong passion for storytelling and new media. Megan’s passion in the marketing, communications and social media campaigns lies with the ever-evolving technologies.
Former Director of Development, Paula Hoffmann, has stepped down from her official duties, but has joined the Vancouver Web Fest Board of Directors and will continue to advise to VWF.
