WEBFEST BERLIN 2017: Award Winners Announced, Catalog Released  

Creative talents in the field of online entertainment were awarded for their digital series at Webfest Berlin 2017. The festival now releases its digital series catalog.  

Webfest Berlin held its third edition on September 8-9 at Säälchen in Holzmarkt. The best web series from the official selection were awarded by a top-class jury, upcoming creators were presented with ‘What’s Next’ Awards by the festival itself, and the best pilot was awarded €2500 from HG Distribution. In 2016 the festival released the first digital series catalog in the world, today they release the 2017 catalog available for download for free at webfest.berlin.  

The third edition of Webfest Berlin was very well attended by local and international producers, broadcasters, video streaming platforms, writers, and independent filmmakers. Attendees included creators and buyers from across Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Lebanon, Turkey, the UK, Japan, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and the USA. Besides honoring the best web series in the world, the two-day-festival provided a platform for discussing and learning the best strategies for producing, creating, and marketing digital short form series.  

As the last step of the successful second edition, Webfest Berlin is releasing a catalog of 196 digital series and platforms. The catalog is released in PDF format with links to all projects and direct contacts to all series creators. It will be available for download via signup on the Webfest Berlin website: http://www.webfest.berlin/catalog/  

The Jury tasked with making the difficult decisions was comprised of, Benoit Beaudoin of TV5 (Canada), cinematographer Muriel AboulRouss (Lebanon), founder and director of the Melbourne WebFest, Steinar Ellingsen (Australia), and Hanna Huge, managing director of serienjunkies.de.

Best Animation/Puppetry – GOTT KOMMT (DE)
Best Non-Fiction – Amy Street (NZ)
Special Mention – Running With Violet (CA)
